James Doyle

James Doyle is the founding Principal of James Doyle Design Associates. The firm was founded in 1993 and he has developed an award-winning design business with residential projects in the United States and Europe. Prior to 1993, Mr. Doyle was head horticulturist of a Russell Page garden in Ireland and has combined his horticultural experience and strong design philosophy to bring to life unique and innovative landscapes.

Projects have ranged from small urban courtyards to large country estates and the firm was named the 2010 APLD International Designer of the Year. Traveling and visiting gardens worldwide has greatly influenced his work and allowed him to develop both contemporary and traditional designs.

He has guided the firm to a growing collection of awards including Palladio and Stanford White Awards and an APLD Gold Award. In 2012, Mr. Doyle was elected into the New England Design Hall of Fame for his contributions to landscape design in the New England region. In 2018, he was the recipient of the ICAA’s 2018 Arthur Ross Award in Landscape Design. He has lectured to private groups and conferences both nationally and internationally and has authored the firm’s monograph, ‘Intersection of Nature and Art’.
